Send Last Minute Mothers Day Flowers

Last Minute Mother’s Day Flowers – Some Quick Fixes

So You you forgot to get a mothers day present for your mom! Well you've picked the peak period of the year (along with Valentine's Day) to get your Mom some flowers!

There's not much time left, so your options are somewhat limikited? You are pretty much restricted to an online florist as they can usually deliver up to - and even including - the day itself.

Funnily enough, online ordering probably means you have the best chance of getting really fresh blooms because the will most likely be coming via a local shop.

Thanks to the internet, you can be on the other side of the world and still get flowers to your Mom on time. It's certainly altered the way florists do business. It's also helped buyers as most of the decisions can be made at distance.

Most florists, especially the big ones have really good images on their sites. In most cases nowadays, what you see is what you get (which wasn't always the case). Think back to the days of the local shop. It was very rare for them to have their entire stock available for inspection at one time.

You can still ask advice. You just do it online. If you are stuck, just ask their advice. They are still florists, they are just further away. The web has just shrunk the world but you are still sending flowers like people have for generations.

A new dimension of the internet you can also deal with the flower growers themselves. Although it seems to contradict what I've said above, by effectively removing the middleman, direct sales could mean fresher flowers. This is more likely to be the case with home grown varities

In most cases, the effective life of a flower is usually seven to nine days. The quality of the flower can vary considerably, especially if it has come half way around the world. if it has come from abroad, then it's not unusual for a flower to be over seven days old before it arrives.

As length of transport is taken into account, flowers have to be picked earlier in their cycle. If you over do this, they may have been picked too young and as a consequence, may not open at all after delivery!

Many online florists offer same-day service. After You place your order online, it is sent through to a local florist. A bouquet of flowers could easily arrive within a few hours (but don't rely on it!). It's expensive but Mother’s Day is at the peak of the demand so leaving things this late could cause you grief.

Obviously, the next big question is what to buy. What sort of Flowers should I send? With a huge choice and little time available, here are some suggestions…

Roses… they come in almost every size and color. They are the perfect choice for a neat, stylish bouquet.

Believe it or not, the actual number of roses you send to a loved one has a significance. Twenty-four roses remind us of the twenty-four hours of the day, representing your all encompassing love. Even colors have meanings.

The red rose is more relevant to Valentine's day as it signifies romantic or passionate love

A light pink rose bouquet makes a super mother’s day gift. A huge range of colors are available from light pink to deep (purpley?) Sending a deep pink bouquet conveys gratitude and appreciation, while pale shades infer grace admiration and happiness.

What about yellow roses; Yellow roses got their meaning from their resemblance to the sun signifying light and joy.

My own favorites are the more exotic such as Ecuadorian roses. These are exquisite pink roses with amazing dark pink edges that really take the eye

White roses are a fairly good bet as they have a lot of class. They stand for harmony, peace and tranquillity.

Blue Roses; that's right, blue. A really unusual looking Rose. My favorite is an English variety called (surprise, surprise, "Blue Moon". Blue, apparently conveys the gift of youthlongevity or long life on the recipient. That's perfect for your Mom.

You could send Lilies. For example, Stargazer lilies. Pink stargazer lilies represent wealth, security and prosperity. Peruvian lilies, or alstroemeria, signify friendship and devotion. Orange lilies represent wealth or pride, whilst Yellow ones stand for happiness, gayeity or carefree.

You will also be on fairly safe ground with Tulips. Not just available in bouquets, you could also send a potted tulip, which will stay with your mom all year round. to remind your mom of you for most of the year. The meaning of tulips is associated with divine love. As with other flowers, the various colors of tulips carry significance.

For instance, White tulips; represent heavenly things. Variegated tulips are representative of someone with beautiful eyes. Purple tulips; vary from white and lavender stripes to a deep violet hue. As you move on to Purple, it is supposed to symbolize royalty (surely that means your Mom?). At the other end of the scale, Pink tulips also mean loving and caring. Red tulips signify strong love. Not surprisingly, yellow tulips remind us of cheerful thoughts, happiness and sunshine.

My favorite potted plant is an Orchid. They symbolize class, refinement and beauty. Pink orchids convey pure affection and the Cattelya orchid represent mature charm.
The large Dendrobiums often dominate tropical arrangements. A particular Mother’s Day favorite is the Cymbidium Orchid, so bear this in mind.

Similar in some ways to Orchids are Hyacinths. Again, these come in many colors and have a delicate beauty about them. You will be safe sending any color as long as it is NOT yellow. This is because yellow is thought to symbolise jealoosy. This is not really Mother's Day material is it (particularly as a last minute present)?

A Blue hyacinth is a better choice as it expresses bothsincerity and enduring love. Purple has been used to ask forgiveness or say sorry for a previous misdemeanor. Red or pink usually signifies happiness, carefree or playful, whilst White means caring or loveliness.

Take this advice on board but If in doubt why not just plumb for your Moms favorite color? The most important thing is to take action immediatey and get onto the online florist as soon as you can.
